Dog Training: How to Stop Poor Behavior
No CommentsDoes your dog disobey your commands? Is he unreliable and cannot fully be trusted? If so, you are not alone. And luckily you do not just have to throw in the towel, because, fortunately, there are several different methods that can put a stop to your dog’s misbehavior.
We all love our dogs, no question. And, yes, they are sweet, adorable, and fun to be around – most of the time. But constant misbehavior can be straining and frustrating. Dealing with it is often a big challenge that we would happily live without.
There are many ways a dog can show misbehavior. When a dog hears a knock on the door, he/she will bark a lot most of the time. They might also charge/bite another animal or person when they are drinking or eating.
Clearly, this kind of behavior leaves a lot to be desired. You might get frustrated when you have to deal with unacceptable manners in your dog and the learning process might overwhelm you.
But it does not have to be this way. Your dog must understand that she/he needs to be quiet and still and this behavior will not be accepted anymore. To do it you need a firm hand all the time.
First, you absolutely need to establish yourself as the pack leader. That is, you are the boss, and he is not. This is so important, because it is usually dogs that question the rank order that cause problems.
Of course, you can also opt to having a professional dog trainer help you. Personally, this is something I would suggest in do on top of everything else. It can be very helpful.
Saying “no” “stop” when your dog misbehaves is useful. If your dog behaves well you need to reward him/her. The puppy needs to understand when something is bad or good.
Also, a common cause for misbehavior in dogs is simply being bored. Just like kids, a bored dog can be quite creative in his ability to cause trouble. So, instead, just keep him busy, and help him stay out of trouble that way.
