  • Effluent Disposal with RX Plastic’s K-Line Range

K-Line irrigation systems have made their way to dairy farms all over New Zealand for years, functioning well and long lasting, it’s no wonder they were a popular choice amongst farmers. Knowing there is always room for improvement; RX has released some additions to the K-Line range.

Last winter RX launched their new K-Line Effluent range at the popular Hamilton agriculture show. The release was due to strong calls from current users of the system, to offer an upgrade for effluent dispersal.

Because the original K-Line sprinklers are not designed for distribution of effluent, the four different sprinkler sizes in the new system ensures that effluent with varying degrees of solids can be catered for.

Popular within the dairy industry, the K-Line range is easily transportable, simple to use and functions perfectly on all terrains – hence it’s popularity is the South.

Known for its affordability and simplicity the K-Line system has been one of the number one irrigation sprinkler systems choice for farmers everywhere.

Tony went on to add, “We looked at what was needed on farms and developed four different options, to meet the needs of various effluent management setups.”

For farms with very basic filtration such as a simple effluent pond, the larger sprinkler heads of K-Line Max70 and Max80 are able to dispose of effluent without the need to fully separate solids from the liquid.

RX have also made options suitable for larger filtration systems, including two pond storage – (suitable for the K-Line Mid) or a weeping wall (for the K-Line Std).

By using K-Line effluent, you are saving time and money on fertilization and the system aids growth and nutrient retention.

If you are concerned about contaminated waterways you can choose to set your spray to 2mm per hr, this lets the ground absorb the solution before it has a chance to contaminate water ways.

The control of ‘runoff’ is top priority on RX’s schedule; the push for resource consent meant a heavy load of testing and surefire proof that the irrigation system is safe for our waterways.

Like the original K-Line irrigation system, K-Line Effluent is made up of a series of durable plastic pods housing metal sprinklers and connected by flexible and durable polyethylene pipe. The unique construction of the K-Line system makes it easy to install and move as well as easy to adapt as farms expand.

Completely safe for grazing cattle, your system can be moved by quad-bike and set up in any paddock you wish.

Atwool adds that by saving time on the management results in a lowered cost of installing and running the new system.

“K-Line Effluent represents a very cost effective option for addressing effluent issues on farm, as well as improving the quality of grass grown on the property.”

Following the launch of the system earlier in the year, demand from farmers has been steady, suggesting that RX is meeting a very real need among the farming community.
